The 2027 Berlin Marathon is on Sunday 26 September, under its new name, the GENERALI BERLIN-MARATHON. The race starts and finishes in the Tiergarten area, with the finish just after the Brandenburg Gate.
Why is the Berlin Marathon famous?
Berlin is one of the Abbott World Marathon Majors and the fastest of them. Its flat course has seen many world records, and it draws tens of thousands of runners and huge crowds of spectators along the route through the city's districts.
How do you travel in Berlin on marathon day?
Roads along the course and around the Tiergarten close for most of Sunday, and crossing the city by car takes longer than usual. Your chauffeur can drop you at the nearest open point to the start area and meet you after the finish at an agreed spot outside the restricted zone. For airport transfers to BER, your chauffeur will plan a route around the course.
Planning race weekend
- Collect your bib at the expo before race day.
- Check the official road closure information.
- Agree a meeting point after the finish.
- Allow extra time for any journey across the city on Sunday.
