The 48th Course de l'Escalade runs on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December 2026 through the streets of Geneva's Old Town.
What is the Course de l'Escalade?
The Course de l'Escalade calls itself Switzerland's most popular running race. It is tied to the Escalade, Geneva's celebration of the city's defeat of a surprise attack in 1602. Runners of all ages take part, many in costume, in races ranging from children's events to fast competitive blocks and walking categories.
How do you travel in Geneva during the race?
Streets around the Parc des Bastions and the Old Town close during the race weekend, and the area is very busy. Your chauffeur can drop you on the edge of the course and collect you afterwards. If you are heading to the airport or meetings across the lake, your driver will plan a route that avoids the closures.
Planning your weekend
- Register early, as race categories fill quickly.
- Check your start block and time.
- Agree a meeting point outside the Old Town.
- Stay for CHI Geneva the following week.
