The Octave 2027 takes place from Saturday 17 April to Sunday 2 May, centred on Notre-Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg City. A traditional small market, the Mäertchen, runs in the city centre during the pilgrimage.
What is the Octave?
The Octave honours Our Lady, Comforter of the Afflicted, patron saint of the city and country. The pilgrimage dates back to 1666 and draws pilgrims from Luxembourg and the neighbouring regions. It ends with a large closing procession through the streets, attended by the Grand Ducal family.
How do you get to the cathedral by chauffeur?
Notre-Dame Cathedral is in the upper old town, close to Place de la Constitution. On the day of the closing procession, streets close and the area is crowded. Your chauffeur will drop you close by and collect you after the service or procession.
Planning your visit
- Check the cathedral's programme for services.
- Attend the closing procession on the final Sunday.
- Expect closures on procession day.
- Combine with a walk along the Chemin de la Corniche.
