The Christmas market on Prague's Old Town Square opens on Saturday 28 November 2026 and traditionally runs until early January. A second large market fills Wenceslas Square.
What are Prague's Christmas markets like?
The Old Town Square market is one of Europe's most photographed, with wooden stalls, a tall Christmas tree and the Gothic towers of the Týn Church behind. Stalls sell crafts, decorations, trdelník, sausages and mulled wine, and there is music on the stage most evenings.
How do you visit the markets by chauffeur?
The Old Town is largely pedestrian, so your chauffeur will drop you at a nearby access point such as Náměstí Republiky or near the river. From there it is a short walk to Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. Your driver can collect you later and take you up to Prague Castle for a view of the lit city.
Planning your visit
- Bring Czech koruna or a card for the stalls.
- Dress warmly, as Prague is cold in December.
- Agree a pick-up point outside the pedestrian zone.
- Book Christmas dinners early.
