The Salzburg Christkindlmarkt opens on Thursday 19 November 2026 at 10am and runs until 1 January 2027 on Domplatz, Residenzplatz and part of Kapitelplatz.
What is the Salzburg Christkindlmarkt like?
It is one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the world, set between the cathedral and the prince-archbishops' residence, with the fortress lit up above. More than 90 choirs perform during the season, tower musicians play on selected days, and a Krampus run takes place on 5 December. The Christ Child appears on Advent Sundays at 4pm.
