The 18th Festival Lumière takes place from Saturday 10 to Sunday 18 October 2026 across Lyon, led by the Institut Lumière.
What is Festival Lumière?
Festival Lumière celebrates classic cinema in the city where the Lumière brothers invented the cinematograph. Restored films, retrospectives and masterclasses fill cinemas across the metropolis, and the Lumière Award honours a major figure of world cinema at a gala ceremony.
How do you get around the festival by chauffeur?
The Institut Lumière is in the Monplaisir district, around 15 minutes from the Presqu'île, and screenings take place in venues across Lyon. An hourly chauffeur makes it easy to move between cinemas and on to dinner in one of Lyon's famous bouchons.
