MWC Barcelona 2027 takes place from Monday 1 to Thursday 4 March at Fira Barcelona Gran Via. It is the biggest week of the year for Barcelona's hotels and roads, so transport needs planning well before you land.
What is MWC Barcelona?
MWC Barcelona, still widely known as Mobile World Congress, is organised by the GSMA and gathers the global connectivity industry: operators, device makers, chip companies, investors and governments. Over four days it combines a vast exhibition, keynote stages and thousands of private meetings, with receptions and dinners running late across the city.
How do you get to MWC by chauffeur?
Fira Gran Via lies between El Prat airport and the city centre. Outside MWC week the drive from central hotels takes around 15 to 30 minutes, but morning and evening traffic around the venue is much heavier during the congress, and taxi queues can be long at closing time. A pre-booked chauffeur meets you at a set point, so you are not competing for cars with 100,000 other visitors. Hourly hire is popular with executives who move between the fair, hotel meeting rooms and restaurants several times a day.
Planning your week
- Collect your badge on arrival day if possible to avoid the Monday morning rush.
- Agree a fixed pick-up point with your chauffeur, as exits change by hall.
- Allow extra time for every drive during the congress.
- Book late-night returns for parties and dinners in advance.
