The Tattoo is a spectacular evening show of military bands, pipes and drums, dancers and international performers, set against the floodlit castle. The 2027 production brings military acts together with Scottish and British performers, and ends with the massed pipes and drums and the lone piper on the castle ramparts.
How do you get to the Tattoo by chauffeur?
Cars cannot drive up to the Esplanade, and the Royal Mile is closed and crowded in August. Your chauffeur will drop you at the nearest permitted point, such as Johnston Terrace or the Mound area, depending on the official traffic arrangements, and meet you there after the show. The walk up to the castle is steep, so allow time.
