The Festa del Redentore is celebrated on the third weekend of July. In 2027 the famous fireworks night is Saturday 17 July, and the religious feast is on Sunday 18 July.
What is the Festa del Redentore?
The Redentore gives thanks for the end of the plague of 1576, which led to the building of Palladio's Church of the Redentore on Giudecca. A votive bridge of boats links the Zattere to the church. On Saturday night, Venetians gather on boats and along the waterfront for dinner, and at around midnight a spectacular fireworks display lights up the lagoon.
How do you get to Venice for the Redentore?
