What is the Festa della Salute?
The festival gives thanks for the end of the plague of 1630, after which the city built the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute. Venetians light candles in the basilica, and stalls nearby sell sweets and candles. The traditional dish of the day is castradina, a slow-cooked mutton and cabbage soup.
How do you get there with a chauffeur?
